Croatia real estate attracts foreigners: buyers from Serbia.

Last year was particularly interesting for foreigners, who bought real estate in Croatia through electronic auctions to the amount of 898 million euros, as data from the Croatian Financial Agency show.
Some of the buyers are Serbian citizens. "Two years ago I left Belgrade and moved to Istra, where I bought this house, where I enjoy life, thanks to the beautiful life in Istra and because it is a good investment," Milica says. Milica sold her apartment in Belgrade and bought a house in Medulina, near Pula. Her property is 300 meters from the sea. Today it was valued 70% higher than what she invested. "The procedure lasted two months. I was waiting for a reciprocity request between Serbia and Croatia.
European Union citizens have no restrictions when buying real estate in Croatia. There are also no restrictions for citizens of the countries of the former Yugoslavia, except for one part''Bosnia and Herzegovina - Brcko. Buyers are also happy with the tax benefits. "A one-time real estate transfer tax of three percent is paid, which is a big advantage compared to other countries where tax is paid every year when buying real estate," economist Dean Junig was quoted as saying.
Interest in Croatian real estate has decreased this year, so prices are expected to fall in the near future.
