Novak Djokovic fights for his 24th major title and the future of tennis

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic organized a press conference at the US Open to talk about the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), which he created with Canadian Vasek Pospisil in 2020.

The main goal of the PTPA is to support and protect the interests of players both on and off the court. Djokovic wants to improve the quality of life for those athletes who do not have 23 grand slam titles and are struggling to exist from 150-200th in the world rankings. He noted that he is not looking to make money for himself as he already has enough to live on. He wants to make a difference for young and unknown players who are forced to travel without a coach due to the huge costs of the sport.

PTPA already''has attracted more than 250 players and has several high-profile representatives on its executive committee, including John Isner, Ons Jebour and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

But not everyone supports the idea of Djokovic and the PTPA.

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray have all voiced their doubts, with Nadal emphasizing that in a difficult situation like this, it is necessary to unite rather than divide. The ATP organization, which manages tournaments and players, also does not support the PTPA.

But Djokovic and his team continue to fight for their principles and hope to have a seat at the decision-making table in the future. They believe that tennis players deserve an independent association that will work in their best interests and help them improve conditions at tournaments.
