Now extinct in the UK, the ancient and beloved creature will become a permanent exhibit.

Here is our correspondent from TopGear.com, Cory Spondent, with his mostly incorrect exclusives from the world of cars.

The skeleton of a giant Volvo estate will become the main attraction at the London Natural History Museum just a few days after this breed went extinct in the UK.

The last Volvo station wagon and sedan have disappeared from these shores after the ecosystem that supported them collapsed, although they continue to roam the continent in mainland Europe.

Discovered in a garage in Scunthorpe, the body of a Volvo 245 will hang from the ceiling of the famous Hintze Hall at the museum before being moved to the permanent exhibition, where it will stand next to a fossilized Ford Fiesta and a Volkswagen Beetle preserved in amber.

This exhibition will also serve as a warning to visitors about the ongoing threat posed by the predator that killed him: the terrifying Essyuvivitus Gargantuus, better known as the 'off-roader.'

“We are thrilled that this amazing specimen from 245 AD is coming to the Natural History Museum,” said a representative. “When we told David Attenborough about it, he immediately cleared his schedule to voice Blue Planet 3 so he could attend the grand opening in person.”

"What is interesting is that our young visitors will be able to see what a practical car used to look like and understand that our ancient roads were a diverse place; not just a useless space for massive, high-riding crossovers that dominate the landscape today."

“And they will find it hard to believe just how big 245 is. It’s enormous.

There used to be an adult-sized diplodocus in the hall, but that was nothing compared to this.”
