The history of our organization

The history of our organization dates back to 1760, when King George III transferred the crown lands to the management of Parliament for an annual fee, with the revenues from these lands going to the treasury. In 1961, the Crown Estate Act was passed, which confirmed the modern status of our company, managed by an independent board of directors. In 1964, the Continental Shelf Act extended our ownership of the seabed to 12 nautical miles from the coast of the United Kingdom.

Financial achievements

According to the Sovereign Assistance Act, our profit, which goes into the treasury, is used by the government to fund the activities of the Monarch. In the 2022/23 year, we announced a record net profit of442.6 million pounds sterlingfor ensuring the nation's finances.

The unique structure of our management, established within the framework of the law, allows us to operate independently and commercially, making us one of the few organizations like ours.
