OpenAI's ambitious plans to develop its own semiconductor chips
Advanced artificial intelligence models may receive support from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to a report by the Financial Times.
Attracting funding for OpenAI
By producing its own chips, the San Francisco-based company aims to reduce its dependence on Nvidia, the current global leader in semiconductor technology. As part of its efforts to attract funding, OpenAI entered into an agreement with Thrive Capital in February 2023, which reportedly increased the company's valuation to over $80 billion, marking nearly a threefold growth in less than 10 months.

- 1.3 billion euros has been allocated from the Horizon Europe program to support research in semiconductor technologies until 2027.
