The UAE is spending 55 million dollars on real estate in Virginia for a future complex - Washington Examiner
The government of the United Arab Emirates has acquired an 18-acre plot of land along the Potomac River in McLean, Virginia, for a sum of $55 million. These plans include the construction of their own residential complexes. In 2022, the UAE purchased three plots of land through a trust associated with UUNet Technologies founder Richard L. Adams Jr. in a single off-market transaction, as reported by the Washington Business Journal.
Construction plans
Recent proposals submitted to the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning have revealed the UAE's intentions to build "individual diplomatic residences" on each of the parcels. According to the documents, one of the residences will cover an area of 23,947 square feet and will include between 13 and 17 bedrooms. All three residences will be surrounded by a driveway and will have a dedicated courtyard entrance providing access to each home.
Additional objects
In addition, the United Arab Emirates plans to build:
- Court for paddle tennisan area of 2,000 square feet
- Fitness centeran area of 11,500 square feet, which will include:
- cryotherapy chamber
- studios for yoga and boxing classes
- Japanese spa with cold immersion
At the moment, however, building permits for the proposed projects have not yet been submitted.
Goals of use
According to the available information, the UAEplanning to organize gatherings with a large number of family members and friendsPerhaps twice a year. A compelling fact is that the UAE also owns a property located at 1005 Crest Lane, which was purchased in 2006 for 11 million dollars.
