Review of the series "Full Circle": Jeff Daniels and Diane Lane are magnificent in the Tom Wolfe adaptation for Netflix.
Jeff Daniels and Diane Lane rarely deliver anything less than stellar performances, but the Emmy winner and Oscar nominee are rarely as good as they are in the adaptation of Tom Wolfe's novel "A Man in Full" on Netflix. In this two-week premiere period, which brought us the Hulu series featuring Lily Gladstone and Riley Keough in "Under the Bridge," Elizabeth Moss's spy thriller series "The Veil" on FX, HBO's "The Sympathizer," based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen, and the third season of the eerie series "The Joke" on Max, executive producers Regina King and David E. Kelley have released a true winner on Netflix with the series "A Man in Full."
In any other show, it would never be better than Daniels as the audacious real estate mogul Charlie Croker from Atlanta, on the brink of bankruptcy, and Lane as his lively ex-wife Martha; that would be more than enough. Whether you are a fan of Tom Wolfe's work or not, his long-awaited second novel came out nearly three decades ago, and you either know it or you don't.
Subheading
Starting with the incredibly thoughtful sound of Shania Twain and including a certain scene of stable sex, the six-part saga directed by Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe-winning director Regina King, known for the film "One Night in Miami," and showrunner maestro Kelly - "The Full Man" - is truly wonderfully beautiful.
Another Subheading
Although the original novel was set in the era of the last superpower in the 1990s, this variation of the series "The Full Man," which is also directed by Thomas Schlamme for three episodes, is very much connected to America in 2024 and its unstable landscape. At the intersection of urban politics, commerce, race, demographics, and rivalry, the miniseries "The Full Man" has a lot to offer with a fantastic cast, including Lucy Liu.
Important Point:By condensing the excess volume of Woolf's book to 742 pages, the series "The Man in Full" also features the outstanding Bill Camp, the subtle Tom Pelphrey, and Sarah Jones.
Important Point:John Michael Hill, Sundance winner Shanté Adams, and Emmy nominee William Jackson Harper are also part of the main cast. And there's also Aml Ameen.
