Hi! Miss Teen USA is becoming a pageant that seems to be unwanted by anyone. After the original winner relinquished her crown, this year's first runner-up also decided not to participate in the competition. Let's take a look at the events surrounding this situation.
Main news
In today's significant news, everyone is discussing — and rightly so — an important update for ChatGPT from OpenAI that could greatly simplify your work tasks.
What awaits us:
- Markets:The leader of the meme stock revolution is back on stage.
- Technologies:Apple desperately needs significant innovations to regain its position.
- Business:The CEO of Walmart shared career advice, and an important part of these recommendations is to be able to enjoy the moment.
But first, let's chat.
Main news
In a conversation with ChatGPT
First there was HAL, then there was Her, and now GPT-4o is stepping onto the stage. Hollywood has long depicted conversations between humans and artificial intelligence. However, real-life counterparts often fell short of expectations, sounding too mechanical or taking too long to respond.
Nevertheless, OpenAI seems to have finally unveiled the secret to effective voice communication by introducing an enhanced ChatGPT, which for the first time features an impressive human voice capability thanks to the latest version of GPT-4o.
During a public demonstration, the new OpenAI product assisted with breathing exercises, explained a solution to a math problem, and performed translation functions. OpenAI claims that the average response time of GPT-4o to audio information is 320 milliseconds, which corresponds to the time it takes for conversation between people.
The internet was extremely impressed. The ability to share a screen with ChatGPT while discussing tasks could prove revolutionary for working with code and data, as noted by Alex Bitter from Business Insider. One of the developers I spoke with after the presentation was thrilled about the potential of this innovation and eagerly anticipated the opportunity to test it out.
According to him, entering specific class names or APIs into ChatGPT while writing code was tedious. However, in the demonstration, it seemed like interacting with ChatGPT could be compared to working with a colleague.
"They have essentially made text input a sort of primitive way to communicate with ChatGPT (or any other AI) now,"— noted the developer. OpenAI has once again made a splash, and now the attention of other companies in the tech industry, especially Apple, seems to be waning. According to Katie Notopoulos from BI, Apple needs to put in a lot of effort.
Ahead of the event on Monday, it became known that Apple’s management has recognized the need for significant improvements to the digital assistant Siri, inspired by ChatGPT.

However, it's not just Apple that is concerned. It has already been reported that OpenAI is working on a web search product to compete with Google Search and is even trying to recruit employees from Google's search team for collaboration.
Meanwhile, today marks the start of Google I/O — the company's largest event for developers, which will undoubtedly focus on everything related to artificial intelligence.
Even those who are very interested in the success of OpenAI are starting to see it as competition. Microsoft, which invested 10 billion dollars in OpenAI,Reportedly, it is developing its own AI model to show that it is not going to simply rely on OpenAI's advancements in the burgeoning AI sector.
Three key points in the markets
According to Morgan Stanley, the dollar will not lose its dominant status. The bank's strategists highlighted three reasons why the green currency will continue to be the dominant global currency in a podcast last week.“Indeed, the dollar king has no serious competitors.”— commented Michael Zizas, head of public policy research in the USA.
- The Return of Rory Catty:Kate Gill, who played a significant role in the short selling of GameStop shares in 2021, wrote a social media post for the first time in almost three years. Naturally, r/wallstreetbets reacted with enthusiasm, and GameStop's stock soared by 118%.
- Economic forecast:One of the leading economists predicts that the growth of the US economy, supported by debt, will be at risk in 2025. Three key points in technology
- Apple is desperately in need of its next big breakthrough:During Tim Cook's leadership, Apple has not released any truly groundbreaking products, which is now critically important for the company. - Success tips from the CEO of Walmart:Speaking at the graduation ceremony at the University of Arkansas, CEO Doug McMillan shared three key pieces of advice: be present in the moment, choose a career that doesn't feel like work, and embrace the positive intentions of others.
- Not all childless adults have it easy.DINKs (dual-income no kids couples) are known for having excess income, which they spend on major investments, luxurious vacations, and early retirement.
