Experienced tennis player Djokovic released two wines

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has entered the world of wine by launching two brands from his own family-owned winery. Next month Djokovic Syrah 2020 and Djokovic Chardonnay 2020 will appear in wine stores and on restaurant wine lists in Serbia after their release in the country.

It is known that the famous tennis player in 2016 planted vineyards and built a winery on 5 hectares of land in the Sumadija wine region in Serbia. The wines from this estate are now on sale for the first time, but for now only available in Serbia. The first production will be around 8,500 bottles, with plans to double production by 2023.

However, the winery has a design capacity of around 60,000 liters, which means plenty of room for expansion.

According to the estate's winemakers, batches of wine have already been distributed for global distribution, Serbian publication Vino & Fino reported this month. The land acquired by the Djokovic family for winemaking was previously a vineyard more than 50 years ago, but has since been abandoned and existed as a forested area prior to the family's purchase.

So Goran Djokovic, wine technologist and uncle of the Wimbledon winner, says: "There are a lot of hurdles, but we try to reach the maximum in this business, as in everything. Even every shot Novak hits with his racket is not perfect, but he is still the best in the world."
