Pistol stock MH3650, based on BMW M3 Touring

Manhart's Modified M3 is exactly what it seems at first glance: a tuned BMW M3 Touring with all the vividness of The Ramones' song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" on the mixtape.

And if there is any confusion about what kind of car this is, the model name from Manhart clearly explains it: MH - in honor of the California metal band Machine Head, obviously - then "3" for3 Series and "650" - the amount of metric horsepower that the engine produces.

As for metric horsepower, it's simple: it's the power generated by a horse that doesn't know how many shillings are in a crown..

Metric system of measurement

One would think that Manhart, being German, would use the real metric system and speak in kilowatts. But kW is a much less lyrical unit of measurement, and yes it also gives smaller numbers for any given power. Properly metrically measured, we'd have MH3 485, and probably something like MH3 640 if we convert to British horsepower.

Fortunately, the MH3's 590 lb-ft of torque value isn't displayed on its badge, so we don't have to go from one system of measurement to another. Either way, the exact numbers - or how they're measured - will give way to the actual experience of using the car.

Power gain

Similar to the MH3 GTR based on the M3 sedan, the MH3 650's power gains come from a dual-mode stainless-steel exhaust and auxiliary engine management unit, answering the question of how much BMW left in the standard M3.

The dodger kit is basically the same as Manhart's customized M3 sedan, including "lots of carbon fiber parts" such as front and rear spoilers, a diffuser and aerodynamic elements mounted in front of the rear wheels.

As for the coloring and decals ... well, "silky matte black" is Manhart's choice, obviously, though buyers can choose a different color if they want. The decal set, on the other hand, is Manhart's "signature finishing touch" that sort of says "It'll be here, sunshine" - just with a little more subtlety than our mixtape of those days.
