A Florida woman is reportedly bequeathing an inheritance and estate in Tampa to her 7 Persian cats.
A Florida woman who died in November decided to leave her fortune to her seven Persian cats, as well as an inheritance for each of them.
Nancy Sauer of Tampa, Florida, died Nov. 26 at the age of 84. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Sauer spelled out in her will that her seven cats should stay on her estate and receive an inheritance.
This isn't the first time a pet has received its owner's inheritance. Designer Karl Lagerfeld left a portion of his inheritance to his beloved cat Choupette when he died in 2019.
Sauer's friend, Jana Alban, told the Tampa Bay Times that the will specifies that the estate will not be sold until the last cat dies. The owner feared the pets would suffer if they were separated.
The cats continue to live in the 4,000-square-foot home, according to the Tampa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Sherry Silk, executive director of the Tampa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, told the Tampa Bay Times that cats shouldn't be alone in such a large home. Silk said the home regularly checked on the cats several times a day, but for the past month the cats have been at the community shelter.
"I will personally make sure that we can keep as many cats together as possible and that they get into perfect homes," Silk said.
Cats will be available for adoption next week. An attorney is currently determining the amount of each cat's inheritance, but Silk said it will be "substantial" and enough to provide the cats with everything they need for a lifetime.
"They only have five years. Persian cats can be expensive and finicky," Silk said.
