When they arrived at the scene, they found the dead body of a man identified as Somsak Aitan, 52, from Maeag Village, Maeag Rural District 18, Maeag District, Phaeo Province. He was a hunter, lying on the ground under a tree in a forest patterned suit. There were dirt stains and wounds on his face and an explosive weapon with fire damage and a broken wooden buttstock was found on his leg, a sharp knife was found 1 meter away.

Police collected evidence and asked a local charity to salvage the body and remove it from the woods to carry out a post-mortem examination. Preliminary police believe the explosive weapon may have detonated, damaging the face and causing death, but the actual cause of death will be determined by further investigations.
