Buying a house is the main priority for the Portuguese.

Property ownership continues to be a very important issue for the Portuguese, and this is reflected in the data we collected, which shows that 68% of respondents own their homes, while only 32% rent, said Marta Almeida, national director of DS Imobiliária. According to a report by idealista, when surveying Portuguese people considering moving in a context where purchasing power is declining due to inflation and mortgage interest rates are rising, the responses were no different.
Among Portuguese families considering a change of residence, 58% say it will be their own home, while 25% aim for purely investment purposes. Already, 17% state that they would like to have a vacation home, according to the same data.
