Institutional presentation

The University of Passo Fundo (UPF) graduates professionals who act as transformational agents through a combination of education, research, extension and innovation. Founded in 1968, it is a pioneer in higher education in the north of the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

Education

In 2023, UPF will celebrate 55 years of history. In these five decades, it has already graduated more than 100,000 professionals. The university offers courses in various fields of study.

Research and Innovation

The goal of research at UPF is to generate and disseminate knowledge and to master the challenges offered by the frontiers of knowledge, always based on the scientific method and in an ethical manner, in order to engage academic communities and continuously improve learning and extension processes.

Expansion and services

UPF manifests its communal nature through expansion, bringing the actions carried out in the institution closer to the community to which it belongs.

International

In 2023, UPF received a score of 5 (maximum score) on the Ministry of Education (MEC) assessment. Last year's Times Higher Education ranking confirmed the university as one of the best in the world. In addition, the university was recognized as one of the best in Latin America and the Caribbean for the third consecutive time by the same publication. The ranking highlights, among other aspects, the university's success in teaching, research and the international relevance of its publications.
