29th day of the legislative session of Georgia 2024
It starts with a week for candidates applying for public office. For five days, individuals wishing to participate in statewide elections will submit their documents at the Georgia State Capitol and pay the necessary fees to officially appear on the ballot.
On Monday, Diana Clare, an attorney from Atlanta, announced her intention to run for the GeorgiaHouse of Representatives seat in the 60th district, currently held by Sheila Jones. Clare, a graduate of Florida A&M College of Law, states that she will have no issues working with Republicans if necessary. "I've been doing this for almost 10 years," Clare says. "Many of my attorney opponents are conservatives, and I somehow manage to bridge the gap to settle cases. I believe I can do the same here in the House of Representatives when it comes to legislation, and just find common ground to bring people together and make the right decisions for Georgia."
Claire says she conducted voter surveys before submitting her documents on Monday.
Claire believes that she is the one who can bring change to the area that stretches from Vinings along the Chattahoochee River, through parts of western Atlanta, and into the southwestern part of Fulton County. "I have already conducted surveys among voters, and they are ready for change too," Claire exclaims. "I am sure it will be a very tough battle. You know, it won't be an easy task, but I am looking forward to it and I think we will succeed."
