The government intends to strengthen the food security program through intensive support for farmers.

President Jokowi toured the food zone site in Makata Cary village, Katiku Tana district, Central Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara province. As part of strengthening the food zone development program to prevent a national food crisis, the Ministry of Agriculture emphasizes the importance of increasing food production and stockpiling, including active assistance to farmers. According to Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, the Ministry will make maximum efforts on all fronts to ensure that the assistance provided to farmers in food improvement zones in Central Kalimantan, North Sumatra and East Nusa Tenggara provinces works optimally.One way to achieve this is to form teams to help develop food enhancements.

"Employees need to be prepared, their competencies need to be improved so they can work optimally. With the right knowledge, the facilitators will be able to assist farmers in food improvements in the areas of cultivation, use of farming tools and mechanization, as well as crop handling and post-harvest activities," the Minister stated.The Minister stressed that this team will be the basis for optimizing the various activities in food improvements from start to finish. The facilitators are expected to contribute to the development of food improvements and strengthening of farmers' institutions as well as development of farmers' enterprises.
