Prince William missing out on rich man's memory is disturbing: experts
Prince William's absence from the memorial service for the death of his godfather Constantine II, former King of Greece, continues to add fuel to the fire of speculation. Several royal experts shared their opinions on whether the public should be concerned about the British heir to the throne not showing up at St. Jorgen's Cathedral at Windsor Manor on Tuesday. The answer? Probably yes. Constantine II was Prince William's godfather. Image of Prince William and Constantine II, former king of Greece, (Copyright 2023 UK Press via Getty Images)
The Kensington Palace office said William, 41, was unable to attend the service for "personal reasons". No other circumstances were cited, however.
Royal biographer Phil Dampier has voiced his opinion on the reasons for William's sudden absence. He told the Daily Mail newspaper, "Constantine was his godfather and very close to the royal family, especially King Charles, and he would have liked to see William by his side, but William didn't show up." He also added that William lives near St. Jorgen's Cathedral, so this situation is very worrying.
Members of the royal family attended the service in Constantine's honor. King Charles, 75, was unable to attend as he is receiving treatment for cancer. Queen Camilla, 76, traveled to the cathedral with other members of the royal family, including Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Anne and Zara Tindall and her husband Mike Tindall.
Constantine passed away on January 10 at the age of 82. He was the last Greek monarch until the abolition of the monarchy in 1973.
