Princess Eugenie reveals the real reason she left London to start a private life in Portugal.
Princess Eugenie made a surprise confession about the real reason she moved to Portugal with her husband Jack Brooksbank and two sons, Augustus and Ernest. Mother-of-two Eugenie, 33, and Jack, 37, moved to the sunny Algarve in 2022 to live in a luxury family home in Comporte, leaving their royal residence at Kensington Palace. The Telegraph originally reported that the family moved to the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club hotel because Jack started working with property owner Mike Meldman, who is managing the development of 300 Cottages. According to the publication, "Mr. Brookbank is believed to be working on marketing, sales and promotion," and it was revealed that prices for these sought-after cottages start at a staggering £3.6 million.
On the Table Manners podcast with Jessie and Lenny Ware, which aired on Wednesday, Princess Eugenie revealed the real reason she enjoys the quiet life outside of London. "That's why Portugal is a dream, because I can walk around the supermarket in exercise, with hair on my head and not care. Nobody cares," she said.
When they are not in Portugal, the family live in Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace.

Nottingham Cottage is a house in the grounds of Kensington Palace and is home to several members of the royal family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. But that doesn't stop Princess Eugenie and Jack getting weekly deliveries from Waitrose Supermarket and buying takeaway food in their pyjamas like many 'ordinary' families!"
"We do one order each week and everyone throws in what they can on Sunday night and the delivery arrives on Monday morning. Sunday looks pretty sad when I look at my fridge," she said.
When asked about the contents of her order from Waitrose, Princess Eugenie admitted: "Nothing interesting, really. Chicken, sausages - always. Potatoes, onions, garlic." She then shared that at her parents' house, she was "not allowed" to eat onions and garlic for fear of "odor," and like many members of the royal family, they avoid foods with a strong odor.
