A law on safe housing has been signed in Georgia, aimed at balancing power between tenants and landlords by providing additional protection for tenants. The law, called the Safe at Home Act, was signed by Governor Brian Kemp.
One of the important aspects of the new law
is that owners are obliged to provide housing that is "suitable for human habitation". Previously, judges could not require owners to improve housing conditions, but this is now possible thanks to a new law.

It gives tenants a thirty-day notice before being evicted and sets a limit on the security deposit to two months' rent. This law will come into effect on July 1.
