Former home of the Greek royal family is for sale on the most sought-after London square.

** Previously owned by the Greek royal family, a home in Belgravia is up for sale at an exciting price of £39.5 million. This mansion with six bedrooms and an adjoining servants' house is located at one of the most prestigious addresses in London - Eaton Square in Belgravia.

However, the square is also known as Red Square due to the fact that Russia's most powerful oligarchs, including Chelsea soccer club owner Roman Abramovich and Gazprom head Andrei Goncharenko, own their real estate here.

The rare property is now on the market with the help of Beauchamp Estates and is expected to cause a struggle to buy. This house, built between 1825 and 1826 by Thomas Cubitt under the auspices of the Duke of Westminster, has "an abundance of luxurious and beautiful living space". It is a rare find as, of the twelve houses on the square overlooking the garden, it is considered the best address in London.

The house has an elegant stucco and brick facade with an entry portico with Doric columns. Among its features are a reception hall with marble floor and columns, a dining room with full marble floor and Corinthian columns, and panoramic windows and marble fireplaces in all rooms. The home also features grand entertaining rooms including a magnificent reception hall, dining room and conservatory overlooking the garden terrace.

The home also has a study and master bedroom on the second floor, as well as three bedrooms and a study on the upper floors. The lower level has a guest bedroom, gym and kitchen with a separate service room, as well as a garage. The home was renovated by high-end interior designer Nicky Haslam in 1995.

In addition, the home is surrounded by 2.5 acres of private gardens with a tennis court and picnic lawns. Square residents also have access to 4.5 acres of community gardens in Belgrave Square.

This mansion was also the residence of the Greek royal family.

In 1947, Princess Katerina of Greece and Denmark and her husband Major Richard Brandram, a British Army officer, settled here. Princess Katerina had close ties to the British royal family. She and the future Queen Elizabeth II were witnesses at the wedding of Princess Marina of Greece and Prince George, Duke of Kent, in 1934. In 1947, King George VI gave the princess the British title of Lady Catherine Brandram. In 2001, she attended the Duke of Edinburgh's 80th birthday party at St. George's Chapel. After living in Eaton Square, Princess Catherine and her husband moved to a house in Marlo, where they lived for many years. From 2002 until her death in 2007, she was the last surviving great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Her 10,616 square foot home is certainly fit for royalty.
