Former hockey player Nicholas Kerdiles died Saturday in a motorcycle accident in Nashville, police said. He was 29 years old.

A former Anaheim Ducks hockey player drove his motorcycle through a stop sign and collided with the driver's side of an SUV, according to Metro Nashville police. The driver of the SUV immediately stopped, with both drivers showing no signs of a traffic violation.

Kerdiles died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Police have no plans to file charges in the crash.

Kerdiles was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in 2012 and spent two seasons with the team, appearing in three games during the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons. He was traded to the Winnipeg Jets in 2018 and played for the Manitoba Moose's minor league farm club. He recently worked in real estate in Nashville.

"We are saddened by the news of Nick Kerdiles' death," the Anaheim Ducks wrote Saturday on social media. "Nick, originally from Irvine, became the first player from Orange County to play for the Anaheim Ducks in 2017.
