Record numbers in the summer for Air Serbia.
At the beginning of 2023, Air Serbia carried 2.76 million passengers, which by the end of August had already exceeded the total number of passengers carried in 2022.
The result of 2.81 million passengers achieved in 2019, the company's most successful year, is expected to be surpassed in the first week of September.
The current summer season will be remembered for many challenges. Poor weather conditions, frequent refueling bans, understaffing at airports, global parts shortages and other unfavorable circumstances impacted the company's operations throughout the summer.
Despite all this, more than one million passengers were carried to more than 80 destinations around the world in July and August, breaking even records,''established before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The most active month was July, which carried 27% more passengers than July 2022 and 39% more than the same month in 2019.
Good results were also recorded in August, which proved to be the 14th consecutive record month.
"We are now intensively preparing for the next winter season, which is expected to be very dynamic," said Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek.
The most popular destinations in the region in July and August 2023 were Tivat and Podgorica.
Of the long-haul destinations, New York ranks among the top ten for passenger numbers over the two summer months.
