Protesters at an airport terminal and runway intersection in Dagestan threatened a plane arriving from Tel Aviv. A video of the incident reviewed by U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller likened it to a pogrom. "We call on Russian authorities to publicly condemn these violent speeches, punish those responsible, and ensure the safety of Israelis and Jews in Russia," Miller said.
According to Baza Telegram, the incident occurred on October 29, when dozens of protesters, angered by the situation related to the war between Israel and Hamas militants, broke through the doors and barriers of Makhachkala airport and stormed the runway shouting "Allahu akbar." More than 20 people were injured in the riots, including six police officers.''Russian authorities closed the airport but later returned to a normal flight schedule, temporarily diverting flights from Tel Aviv to other Russian cities. The Investigative Committee began searching the residences of protesters and detained more than 60 people.
