The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is again warning parents and caregivers about the dangers of Fisher-Price Rock '\''n Play sleep chairs, which are used to soothe and rock babies to sleep. The safety announcement was released Monday, nearly three years after the Rock '\''n Play chairs were initially recalled in April 2019.

The recalls involve approximately 4.7 million items in the series, most of which were sold between 2009 and 2019 at major retailers like Target and Walmart, as well as online retailers including Amazon. In 2019, the seats were recalled after 30 deaths of children were reported to have been on the'In the first recall, CPSC received reports of 70 more deaths involving these seats. Since the initial recall, CPSC has received reports of 70 additional child deaths related to these seats. It is important to note that in some cases, Fisher-Price was unable to confirm the circumstances of the incidents or determine that the product was the Rock '\''n Play chair.

Fisher-Price immediately stopped selling the chair after the recall and sought to remove the product from the market.

However, a June 2021 final report from the U.S. Congressional Permanent Oversight Committee alleged that Fisher-Price "ignored multiple warnings that the Rock '\''n Play chair was unsafe for infant sleep, including reports of infant injuries and deaths." In its comments, Fisher-Price stated that the safety of its''products is the most important factor and it sympathizes with every family that has lost a child. The company said the chair was developed based on extensive research, medical guidelines, safety analysis and more than a year of testing.

In addition to the Rock '\''n Play chair recalls, the CPSC also recommends parents stop using swings from Kids2, which were also recalled in April 2019. The CPSC recommends contacting Fisher-Price for a refund or voucher. It is important to follow the CPSC's recommendations and stop using these seats immediately to keep children safe.
