Location can play a big role in price when buying a new home. According to data from Bennett Property Shop Realty, real estate prices are higher in central Ottawa neighbourhoods than in suburbs such as Barrhaven, Kanata, Orleans and Stittsville. "The closer to downtown, the more expensive it is," Taylor Bennett, a broker with Bennett Property Shop Realty, said on CTV Morning Live this week. Bennett appeared on CTV Morning Live to discuss the average price of different styles of homes depending on location in the Ottawa real estate area.
The most expensive residential real estate areas:

"Those who are retired or working from home and don't necessarily have to be in the city should look at these neighborhoods," Bennett said.

"The condominium market really depends on your lifestyle. Some people are attracted by price, but another important factor is condo fees," Bennett said.
Bennett also looked at the average price for different styles of homes in different Ottawa neighborhoods.

- Kanata/Stittsville - $927,200

Bennett says Orleans/Gloucester and Barrhaven/Riverside South offer buyers looking for a detached home "more for their money." "There are also newer homes, especially in the Barrhaven/Riverside South neighborhood, so not only are they cheaper, but they're a little newer, which means less support will be needed over time," Bennett told CTV Morning Live.
