The most expensive house in the world, located in France, costs 3.775 billion rupees.
A villa outside of Paris, which once belonged to a member of the Rothschild family and later to the King of Morocco, is on the market for an astonishing $425 million (3.775 billion rupees), reports Mansion Global. This nine-figure price makes Château d'Armenvillers, located about 30 miles east of the Eiffel Tower, one of the most expensive homes in the world, according to Ignace Mevissen, a luxury real estate consultant and co-founder of Whisper Auctions, a company specializing in luxury property transactions. He is handling the sale of the château.
Château d'Armenville, covering nearly 2,500 acres of land, has a long history, starting as a medieval fortress in the 1100s and partially destroyed during the French Revolution, according to a brief history of the building in the Rothschild archives. Among its famous owners were the noble Rochefoucauld-Doudeauville family and Edmond de Rothschild, who renovated the château and acquired additional land. Much of the current appearance of the spacious house was created during the Rothschilds' ownership, including "steep roofs and half-timbered floors that resemble the English cottage style," according to family archives. According to Mevissen, the Rothschilds sold Château d'Armenville to King Hassan II of Morocco in the 1980s. The château last changed hands in 2008 when, after the death of King Hassan II in 1999, his son inherited the property and sold it for $200 million (16,700,000,000 rupees), according to Mevissen.
“The property was purchased by an owner from the Middle East, but it has never been used,” Møvisen said in an email. Mansion Global was unable to identify the owner.
