Trump's fundraising reveals dependence on the oil sector and wealthy donors.

Donald Trump relied on a small number of sponsors to ensure that most of the funds in March came into his campaign fund, demonstrating the initial success of his shift to wealthy benefactors for financing his presidential campaign. The amount of $23.6 million from affluent donors made up a significant portion of the $65.6 million raised by him and the Republican Party that month.

Donald Trump and the Republican Party raised $65.6 million in March, ending the month with $93.1 million in the account. His dedicated super-PAC will report its collection amounts to the Federal Election Commission on Saturday.

Although the overall figures were known earlier, the declarations published on Monday provided detailed information about the donors and other details for the first time.

Among those who supported Trump and the party were real estate entrepreneur and aerospace industrialist Robert Bigelow, Energy Transfer Partners CEO Kelcy Warren, and Linda McMahon, who was appointed by Trump as the head of the Small Business Administration during his presidency.

Trump, whose criminal trial began on Monday for falsifying business records related to hush money payments during the 2016 election, is also raising funds for "Save America" - a PAC that covers his legal expenses. He is increasingly relying on wealthy donors and elites, as his rallies are not generating enough small donations to fund his campaign.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has amassed a record treasury fund for this election year. Outside groups supporting Biden, led by his main PAC, "Future Forward," have pledged $1 billion to support him.

National and state parties, as well as some super PACs and joint fundraising committees from both candidates, which can raise large sums of money for their campaigns, have submitted their quarterly reports to the Federal Election Commission.
