Family evicted after apartment fire in Santarém.

A family with a one-year-old child was left homeless after a fire broke out in their apartment on Florentino Pereira Mota Street, near the D. João II school in the city of Santaren.

According to CM, the fire started in the living room of the apartment, which suffered serious damage, but did not spread to other rooms thanks to the quick intervention of firefighters. However, the damage caused by the intense smoke made the third-floor apartment uninhabitable.

The family called rescuers themselves around 8:15 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but all indications are that it started in the fireplace of the apartment.

At the scene'. 's incident were the Santarem Fire Department, Santarem and Pernes volunteer firefighters, and city police, totaling 22 personnel and nine vehicles.
