Serbia and Real Estate: The Construction Boom Has Slowed Down, Impact on Apartment Prices

38-year-old Marina Tsvetkovich has been searching for an apartment for over six months, but so far without success. A philologist from Kragujevac, after years of renting in Belgrade, decided to buy property in the Serbian capital, but high prices, "buildings stacked on top of each other," and unfavorable bank loan conditions have hindered her plans, she tells the BBC in Serbian.

In the last two months, Marina has noticed that "the demand for apartments in Belgrade has decreased," and she has started thinking about buying an apartment in her hometown of Kragujevac. Developer and designer from Pančevo, Dejan Živković, noted that "fewer investors are interested in construction," and apartment sales are proceeding more slowly than before.
