Serbia begins reconstruction of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railroad line in August.

In Serbia, the reconstruction of a 100-kilometer-long railway line connecting the city of Niš with Dimitrovgrad on the border with Bulgaria is scheduled to start by October, Infrastructure Minister Goran Vesic said.
"This project envisages the construction of a bypass railroad track around Nis. The first stage tender has been finalized, and now we are looking for financial offers from the companies that passed the first stage," Vesic was quoted as saying in the ministry's press release.
The project includes the reconstruction of an 80 km long section between Sicevo and Stanicene, the construction of a 22 km single-track electrified bypass around Niš and the electrification of the entire railway line connecting Niš and Dimitrovgrad. The project was planned to start inOctober 2022.
The Nis-Dimitrovgrad connection is part of the Pan-European Corridor X, one of the transportation corridors connecting Central Europe to Thessaloniki in Greece.
