‘Sympathy for Israel’: The History of Silver-Israeli Relations

Since the creation of the idea of statehood for the Jewish people and the birth of Zionism, the Serbs have always advocated that the Jewish people should be their own master in their own land.

Diplomatic and trade relations between Israel and Serbia are developing thanks to Serbia's honorary consul, Aleksandar Nikolić.

In the forests of Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund, named after Serbian and Yugoslav monarchs of the past, the history of Jews on the Balkan Peninsula spans about 2000 years.

Israel has been able to establish relations with the new states that emerged after the breakup of Yugoslavia, the largest of which is Serbia.

Aleksandar Nikolić, the honorary consul of Serbia in Israel, grew up in Belgrade and is a descendant of Sephardic Jews who survived Bergen-Belsen.
