Post Office property: We have international partners who are demanding a major project

The new hotel in the old post office building in Málaga will be one of the most prestigious hotels in Spain.

The project is in the process of development and requires a complex and lengthy approval procedure by the Town Planning Department. The main issue is the increase of the current building area to meet the requirements of international operators with whom negotiations are underway.

According to Francisco Ruiz of the investment fund Nitsba Spain, they have three high-level international operators who are very interested in the project and want to include Málaga in their brand, but require a large-scale project. Therefore, it is necessary to add about 3,000 square meters more to the existing building area.

The process of increasing the volume of the building is under discussion between the owner and the urban planning office. Last week, Nitsba Spain presented its proposal for the increase in building volume, which involves building three or four floors above the base of the building facing Avenida de la Aurora.

The owner of the building wants to find a consensus solution to minimize the impact on the environment and San Pedro, which is a heritage site.

The minimum requirement is to accommodate at least 200 rooms, but there are operators who are willing to accept 300 to 400 rooms. The project also requires a change in the urban master plan, which requires confirmation from the Andalusian government. The owner has submitted a tourism study that proves that Málaga is capable of hosting high-level projects.
