The first Olympic Games

Fleck was born in London in 1873 and moved to Australia with his parents at a young age. He attended Melbourne Grammar School from 1886 to 1892. Fleck was the only Australian athlete at the first modern Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, in 1896. He made a significant contribution by winning the 800' races'meters and 1500 meters. Fleck became popular with his rivals and earned the nickname 'The Lion of Athens'.

The Burnbank Estate

Some time later, after returning home, he purchased the Burnbank Estate, built around 1854, and organized the breeding of Friesian cows.
