The Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke at a joint press conference with his British counterpart Cleverly. Fidan said that the UK has an important position as guarantor in Cyprus and they have the opportunity to discuss related issues and recent developments on the island. He also emphasized that they agree on the need to revive the Black Sea Initiative (Grain Initiative) in the context of the war in Ukraine. Fidan also noted that their consultations with the British authorities will continue at the highest level and stressed the importance of close cooperation between the two countries in regional and global challenges. He also noted that Turkey and the UK are important actors in Europe outside the European Union (EU) and are Turkey's leading partners in Europe.

Fidan also noted that Turkey and the UK seek to diversify their trade and utilize all opportunities to do so. He emphasized that they will further develop their bilateral relations at the highest level and have prepared for the 7th meeting of the Joint Committee on Economy and Trade.

Fidan also said they are ready to host the 8th meeting of the Tatlıdıl Forum in Turkey and to receive British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

He also stressed that the UK is an important partner of Turkey in tourism and defense cooperation. Fidan said they addressed the issue of counter-terrorism and managing illegal migration during their meeting with Cleverly. He also noted that they discussed the situation in Sudan and expressed Turkey's readiness to help achieve final peace in the country. Fidan also noted that Turkey sent humanitarian aid to Libya after the flooding in the country. He emphasized that Turkey will continue to support Libya as a whole state and provide assistance there.

Fidan also expressed condolences to the victims of the earthquake in Morocco and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. He also responded to a question about Sweden's NATO membership, noting that Turkey adheres to the agreements reached at the Western European Summit in Madrid in 2020 and the NATO summit in Vilnius in 2023.
