NSW dispute with Italian princess over $1 billion inheritance
Page Six reports that the illegitimate granddaughter of the late British art collector is preparing to claim half the rights to a $1 billion collection of paintings, sculptures, tapestries and other objects that was given to NYU in 1994. The school calls the treasure trove, assembled by Sir Arthur Ecton and bequeathed to NYU, "the most magnificent gift" to an American university.
But an Italian court ruling on July 17, during a decade-long court battle, says DNA evidence proves that Ecton left an heir - the late Liana Beacci, daughter of Arthur Ecton's mistress, Ersilia Beacci. And Liana's daughter told Page Six that she is "100 percent certain" that the court is also posthumously awarding her mother an equal share of more than 6,000' posthumously'works of art, French dresses and baroque furniture.
According to the latest court ruling, Italian Princess Dialta Alliata Lenci Orlandi does not hide her satisfaction: 'It is a great satisfaction that the NJ refused to recognize my mother's paternity all these years.
