Technology Sovereignty

The Cotec Foundation for Innovation has just presented a paper on Technological Sovereignty, created by a Working Group coordinated by the PONS IP consulting firm.

The Cotec Foundation for Innovation has presented on its base the study "Technological Sovereignty and Intellectual and Industrial Property", the result of a Working Group coordinated by the consulting firm Pons IP. Some thirty representatives of its members, organizations from both the public and private sectors, participated. The document is available to view at cotec.es.

The paper notes the role of industrial property as a catalyst for technological sovereignty and offers recommendations for its strengthening.

The CEO of Cotec, Jorge Barrero, appreciated at the presentation the role of the working groups within the Foundation as places for dialog and reflection on technological sovereignty. "They are decisive to overcome the profound transformations related to the social, economic and political challenges we are currently facing," said Barrero.

Revisiting the European approach

The paper notes the importance of technological sovereignty for a territory to be able to make its own strategic decisions. В''there is still a strong entrepreneurial culture centered on tangible assets, which poses significant challenges to the development of innovation'.
