Thailand: Police discovered a dismembered German in a freezer.

In the Thai province, police discovered the dismembered body of 62-year-old Hans-Peter Mack, as reported on Tuesday by local police chief Tai Kudtalaeng. The body was found around 11:00 PM local time (1600 UTC) the day before. Mack, who worked as a realtor and had lived in Thailand for several years, had been missing for a week. The police were trying to determine his whereabouts by analyzing surveillance camera footage, hoping to find him alive. However, instead, they stumbled upon the mutilated body, which was located in a freezer inside one of the houses in the prestigious Nong Prue area.
According to media reports, law enforcement agencies have detained a woman suspected of having met with Mak just before his disappearance, as reported by the German newspaper Bild, citing a source. The meeting was related to a lucrative sale of two properties: a villa and a boxing gym, valued at around 700 million baht (approximately 18.2 million euros or 20 million dollars). Mak's wife, a 24-year-old woman, received two text messages from him during the meeting, but after that, she was unable to contact him again.
According to the English newspaper Bangkok Post, a Thai couple told the police that a German woman hired them to deliver a freezer to a house where a body was later found.
Investigators report that a significant amount of money has disappeared from the businessman’s bank account and suspect that the crime is related to extortion. There are reasons to believe that before Mac's murder, he may have been subjected to torture. Previously, Hans-Peter worked as the head of a communications agency.Media AGin Munich and was last seen driving his sedanMercedesIn the coastal city of Pattaya, where he lived with his Thai wife, his family published a missing person notice, offering a reward of 3 million baht (approximately $86,000 or €78,000) for any information that could assist in his search; however, there were no responses.
According to the Associated Press, Hans's car was found on Sunday in the parking lot of a residential complex in Nong Prue. During the investigation, police discovered traces of a chemical cleaning agent in the vehicle, including on the seats, dashboard, and steering wheel. It appears that this substance was used in an attempt to destroy evidence. The German Foreign Ministry has announced that they are aware of the case and their representatives are in contact with the relatives of the missing person and Thai authorities.
