Tyra Banks is stepping down as host of Dancing with the Stars after 3 seasons.
T Tyra Banks is leaving "Dancing with the Stars," the U.S. version of the acclaimed show, after just three seasons. The information was confirmed on the Good Morning America program. Banks herself recently told TMZ that she is leaving "Dancing with the Stars" to focus on her business, entrepreneurship and producing the TV show. She also shared that it was time for her to "move from the dance floor to the director's office.
The "America's Next Top Model Show" creator joined "Dancing with the Stars" at age 49 for its 29th season, which aired in 2020, becoming the program's new host and executive producer, replacing legendary host Tom Bergeron. With this move, she became the first black female host''show.
"I like breaking those barriers so there are no more firsts like that," Banks said on Good Morning America. "But it feels good to be the first to open that door and let a lot of other people come in after you - so I'm excited. "
Banks, who created many iconic fashion looks in the studio, stayed on the show when it moved from ABC to Disney+ for its 31st season, which aired last year. She was joined as host by Alfonso Ribeiro, the acclaimed actor from "Prince of Bel-Air" and a Golden Globe winner.
