Thai police are starting to test reflective vests to enhance safety on tourist routes..

Soon, in busy tourist areas of Thailand, police officers will start wearing new reflective vests, which is expected to enhance safety measures for both Thai citizens and foreign visitors. This decision was announced by Police General Torsak Sukvimol, the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, on October 16.

This restructuring will involve employees from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), tourist police, and other relevant departments. General Torsak emphasized the special yellow-green color of the vests, stating that they are specifically designed to enhance visibility. Improved visibility is expected to be from 200 to 500 meters, making it easier for both locals and tourists to spot the police. This was reported by The Pattaya News.

However, before these vests become a permanent feature of Thailand's security forces, they will undergo a three-month trial period. During this time, feedback will be collected from citizens and tourists to assess the level of satisfaction. Based on the responses received, changes will be made to improve the quality and effectiveness of the vests.

This initiative is not a standalone measure.

It is part of a broader policy by Thailand's new Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin. The 61-year-old Prime Minister aims to refresh the image of tourism in Thailand and enhance security for both citizens and tourists, thereby ensuring the protection of life and property.

In August, a new uniform for the traffic police will be nationally introduced starting September 15, and it is expected that all 19,662 officers will wear the new uniform. Internet users have expressed their dissatisfaction with the changes, stating that they can hardly distinguish the difference in the new design. Police Lieutenant Colonel Kittiprapat, the police commissioner, formed a working group yesterday to modify the uniforms of the officers serving in the traffic police, following the instructions of Police Lieutenant General Prachuap Wongsuk.
