Tomohon is Indonesia's hidden treasure: Speaker of the House of Representatives
The winged expression "hidden gem" can easily be applied to the city of Tomohon on the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia, as confirmed by House Speaker Puan Maharani.
In her characteristic style, Maharani put emphasis on the tourism potential of this city, openly little known to either international or local tourists.
She pointed out that many world famous places in Indonesia, but actually only a few of them attract tourists.
Fascinated by the natural beauty of the country, Maharani urged to appreciate the natural bounty and beautiful scenery combined in the city of Tomohon.
Situated at the foot of the mountains of Lokon, Mahavu and Tampusu, the town is known for its blooming flora and rich water springs.
In order to boost tourism flow and attract foreign and local visitors, Puan Maharani suggested the idea of holding the Tomohon International Flower Festival, which will not only be an exhibition but will convey the diversity, beauty and natural richness of Indonesia.
The Speaker also emphasized the need to improve hotel and infrastructure facilities to provide comfort to visitors.
She expressed confidence that the development of tourism in Tomohon would enhance the well-being of the local people and promote the development of micro, small and medium enterprises.
Expressing her support, Maharani suggested using the 11th-annual Tomoho International Flower Festival as an opportunity to further develop the tourism sector, which has been so affected by the pandemic.
