Devendra Banhart

List
On her new album 'Flying Wig', Devendra Banhart explores the emotional side of synthesizer music with the help of Welsh art-pop queen Kate Le Bon. The result is a dreamy, gentle and hopeful sound reminiscent of the sweet side of Magnetic Fields (think: 69 Love Songs). Banhart notes many romantic details back the album, including the picturesque cabin in California where it was recorded and the dress (a gift from Le Bon) and pearls (from his grandmother) he wore while recording. He will be supporting the album after being discovered by musician and artist Hayden Pedigo. AV (Revolution Hall, Buckman District)
Bear Grease

List
Comedy musical Bear Grease came to Portland for one night to add indigeneous touches of hip-hop, parody, improv and freestyle to the revival of the '78 classic. The production promises to present a "new historical perspective," and the December performance will also focus on the holidays. It sounds like a lot to handle at once, but I have a lot of confidence in the LA-based hip-hop duo of musician and performer Lightnin'cloud, which includes MC Redcloud, a former Guinness World Record holder for longest freestyle rap. LC (Portland Art Museum, South Park Blocks neighborhood)
Nature Night - Keep Looking Up: Your Guide to the Powerful Healing of Birding with Tammah Watts

List
If you're already dreaming of warmer days, there's nothing better than a bird-induced mood. The soon to be renamed Portland Audubon will participate in this online conversation with Tamma Watts, a member of the Association of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and author of Keep Looking Up: Your Guide to the Powerful Healing of Birdwatching. Watts "combines personal stories and the lives of birds to show the marvelous phenomenon that is shared between us," explaining the mental health benefits of bird watching and how feathered friends can teach us about meditation and communication.

The Portland Mercury presents: Two Evils with Arlo and Kate - A Comedy Show!"
A former event
Similar
List
The up-and-coming comedy geniuses of Portland Mercury's Arlo Weyerhaeuser and Kate Murphy (famously skeptical of the existence of forest people) get devilishly funny in this live comedy show in which the funny duo answer a series of truly devilish questions. The audience (and special guest Adam Pasi) then decides which answer is less diabolical. It's like a Catholic confession, only HUGE and without judgment. Okay, maybe a little judgmental. To find out, you'll have to go. Plus, there will be prizes - the perfect remedy for moral corruption. LC (Siren Theater, Boise area)
Comfort & Joy with the Oregon Orchestra

Similar
List
Associate conductor Deanna Tam will take the reins from the "sleigh" as the Oregon Orchestra brings well-being and joy during an elegant evening concert. Rejoice in the abundance of classic renditions of Christmas classics. AV (Arlen Schnitzer Concert Hall, South Park Blocks neighborhood)
