The Toyota Crown Estate has been resurrected as the Crown SUV for America, premiering on November 14.
The crossover is a production version of the Crown Estate concept, which has been confirmed for a debut in Japan next year. The two promo images published by Toyota focus on the rear of the SUV. Fortunately, these images prove its similarity to the concept close to production. The horizontal LED taillights as well as the tailgate and bumper lines closely resemble those of the Toyota Crown Estate prototype, which was unveiled in July 2022 along with an extended family of Crown series models.
The rear badging confirms that the U.S. and Canadian versions of the model will feature a hybrid system with a plug-in hybrid system with in-drive charging and all-wheel drive. It will likely use either an atmospheric 2.5-liter engine or''s turbocharged 2.4-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors, as in other Toyota models. In Japan, the Toyota Crown Estate will also have the option of a transfer case with a hybrid system. The production version of the Toyota Crown Estate has dimensions similar to the prototype, measuring 4,930 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height.
Although''An official on-sale date has not yet been confirmed, with a release expected to take place in the first half of 2024. When it becomes part of Toyota's lineup, it will be the second Crown-branded vehicle available in the U.S. market. In the meantime, Japanese customers have access to the full lineup, which includes the Crown Crossover, Crown Sport SUV, Crown Estate SUV and Crown Sedan.
