And you’ll never guess what happened next. The majority of men—54%—said that Trump respects women either "very much" or "a little." Only 31% of women saw the situation that way. Trump, a man known for bragging about grabbing women by their intimate parts—and who is currently facing trial for covering up a sex scandal involving a porn star—has long symbolized a kind of machismo that many people perceive as misogynistic.

Our poll showed that Trump has a 20-point advantage among men, while Biden has a 16-point advantage among women. "The formula for any Democrat in a close race is to win among women more than they lose among men, and, frankly, we’re not doing that right now," said Celinda Lake, a Democratic pollster for Biden's 2020 campaign.
