A mansion for $8.4 million is becoming the most expensive home in the area again.

The buyer, according to Rowan, who declined to disclose the buyer's identity, is a local resident and has made an offer to buyhousesbefore it was formally listed for sale in October for $8.7 million. The buyer paid an additional $300,000 for furnishings, said Ridley Stallings, who handled the sale in collaboration with Rowan.

The owner added three bedrooms to the previous two bedrooms in the main househometo create a family estate for holidays and vacations, but eventually sold it because he found it closer to thehomea place for family gatherings, Stallings said.HouseWas expensive because of its unusually large size and many amenities. The property is a guard-gated estate of about 28,000 square feet located on the Wilmington River 10 miles southeast of downtown Savannah. There are 14 bedrooms in the main house, two guest cottages, twoapartmentsand a multipurpose barn with a movie room.
