The horror! Bret Baier's stupid residence is the cause of the destruction of the coal industry!

Regular readers of this little mom blog may have noticed that Yr Dr. Zoom is not a real estate expert. It's unknown exactly whether this is a consequence of the teenage rejection of my very Catholic mother, who liked to pester realtors about nearby properties so much that she sometimes called them under someone else's name, but it's possible. However, here's a real estate story I'm really interested in: It seems Fox News anchor Bret Baier is selling his 16,250-square-foot, five-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion, which Zillow reports is "at the highest point in Washington on Foxhall Street," for a mere $31.9 million. Here''cheerful news of the sale on local TV news - with a promotional video from realtors - emphasizing that if Bayer gets the asking price, it will be the highest price ever paid for residential real estate in Washington.

One thing that caught our attention, however, was a story from the Washington Post (gif link) that describes how internet users noticed that Bayer's home has large banks of solar panels installed on it, which can be seen in the photo above. Users online wrote that this is pretty controversial for a man whose network is the main source of climate change denial in the U.S.:

"Foxnews has solar panels installed? What does Murdoch have to say to that!!!" - wrote one person on''s online parenting forum in Washington, D.C., referring to Rupert Murdoch, founder of the Fox media empire and previously described himself as a "climate change skeptic. "

Washington Post confirmed with realtor "Daniel Hader of TTR Sotheby's International Realty" that the mansion does indeed have 86 solar panels installed last year. As the newspaper notes, Beyer is not the only wealthy conservative who is saving energy with solar panels while continuing to promote the use of fossil fuels, such as Rep.

Thomas Massie (Republican, Kentucky) and Ohio Republican Governor Mike DeWine, who supports the use of fossil fuels but also boasts that his state is''percent of climate-related shows from 2009 through 2021 either spread blatant misinformation or misrepresented facts on the topic. The false climate claims presented on Bayer's serious news show are no different than those presented on Fox's "opinion" shows, which refutes the suggestion that there is a significant difference between the two. And that's not even counting the discrepancy in the title of the daily news show "Special Report. "

The same statistic notes that since Joe Biden took office, Special Report has actually stepped up its climate misinformation, tripling the number of false and misleading reports compared to 2020. This is understandable given Biden's threat to destroy America with''clean energy jobs and clean air.

Let's not be too hard on Bayer, Massey and other conservatives who realize that rooftop solar panels and batteries are a great way to save money on electricity. Let them green a little bit of the grid with us! In fact, we should look to their actions as a reason to ignore their climate statements.

Maybe we could tax them good and put the proceeds into community solar projects?[WaPo (gift link) / MediaMatters]
