Researchers used their methodology, combining it with open data from Zillow and other providers.

Data shows that homes in Atlanta are selling for 51% more than their actual value, leading to a significant gap between the amount people pay and the real value of housing.

The average home price was $357,677, but the expected value of a home was only $236,627, according to the study. Despite the high prices, this does not deter potential buyers from pursuing this city. The National Association of Realtors named the metro area the best place to buy a home in 2023 due to its developed tech hub and strong job market. However, if you want to get more for your money, the study recommends looking at Macon, Georgia, where housing costs are $40,000 above the average price, or College Park, which was named one of the 15 cities across the country where homes are the best buy.
