Great Thai King Prajadhipok sold his former estate in Great Britain.
A majestic estate in England, linked to the last king of Thailand, Prajadhipok, has recently been put up for sale. This property, spanning over 67 acres, originally belonged to Prajadhipok, also known as Rama VII, the last absolute monarch of Siam (modern-day Thailand). The estate was built in 1419. Rama VII ruled the country from 1925 to 1935, a period of chaos and revolution, and died in exile in England at the age of 47 in 1941.
This charming mansion in the English village of Biddenden, a former center of the iron industry, combines wealth and rural charm, along with a fascinating history. The estate, known as Wayne Court, is owned by Will Peppitt from Savills and is offered for just over $7 million. The manor still retains several antique features, such as an entrance hall with an ancient oak staircase, as well as modern amenities like a heated pool and tennis courts. (Source: Savills website)
Two years after his abdication, in 1937, the late former king and his queen Rambhai Barni moved here and quickly adapted to country life.
Depending on usage, there are six or seven bedrooms inside, two of which have en-suite bathrooms, a dining room with a fireplace, a gym with a wooden frame, various fireplaces, and a kitchen with granite countertops, an oil Aga, and American walnut furniture. The roofs are mostly covered with tiles. Outside, you can see various formal gardens, including the Royal pond in the water garden and the now-buried rose garden. The estate has two concrete barns next to the main house, which have "planning permission" to be converted into homes with four and three bedrooms, respectively. Additionally, there is "ample parking," including a carport and a garage with four open doors. There is also a heated swimming pool, enclosed by a fortified hedge, and an adjacent tennis court, also bordered by a fortified hedge.
