Georgia Supreme Court rejects Trump's efforts to block election investigative panel

The former US President Donald Trump has failed to prove a reason why the investigation against him and his allies over alleged illegal interference in the 2020 election should be halted.

The Georgia Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that Trump's lawyers have not presented enough evidence to stop a grand jury. In their petition, Trump's attorneys argue that the previous grand jury overstepped its authority and that attempts to overturn the report and disqualify prosecutor Fanie Willis were ignored.

The high court denied Trump's request to ban the use of the grand jury report in future court proceedings and to disqualify Willis from participating in the process.
