Restoration of normal staff employment in Grand Est by 2024 - Enterprise Journal - Grand Est

After three years of "setbacks" due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of highly qualified professionals in Grand Est is expected to return to normal by 2024, according to the Association of Highly Qualified Professionals (Apec), increasing by 1% this year and reaching 14,230 hires compared to 14,120 last year. "The hiring prospects in the region are less favorable and reflect the caution of companies due to the uncertainty and instability affecting growth," says Florence Heitz, the regional delegate of Apec Grand Est since October 2023.
Half of all hires in Alsace
The forecasts for the region align with the national ones, where a 2% growth is expected.
In Grand Est, the Alsace region accounts for more than half (51%) of the rentals, followed by Lorraine (32%) and Champagne-Ardenne (17%). The sectors of Strasbourg, Obernai-Molsheim, Ageneau, Metz, and northern Moselle remain the most dynamic.

Grand Est stands out with a high number of created positions for personnel (3,130 in 2023) due to the significance of the industry, which is subject to numerous structural changes.
Another feature of the region is that the share of hired employees in medium and large enterprises is 45%, compared to 38% in other regions of the country, in relation to SMEs. In Grand Est, the workforce is predominantly male and more experienced.
As for the functions, the demand for personnel in the commercial sector (19%) and in research and development (16%) is the highest, while the information technology sector is in a long-term trend.
Men are also more represented (65%) than women (35%). The Apika analysis also shows that more than a third of hires (35%) are related to candidates with over 10 years of experience, compared to 25% at the national level.
Although optimism still exists within the organization, Florence Heights reminds us that the labor market is subject to uncertain economic growth, particularly due to "worrisome geopolitical conditions" and rising interest rates.
- In Luxembourg, gentlemen are ready to end their careers in France.
- Hiring difficulties persist for 7 out of 10 businesses, both nationally and in Grand Est, which requires creativity, as noted by Apec.
- Employment for the elderly is also one of the challenges for Apec, which helps companies enhance their attractiveness and write job postings.
