Warner Music is developing a biographical movie about Edith Piaf using artificial intelligence

Warner Music Group has announced the imminent release of "Edith," a new biographical film that will resurrect the legendary Edith Piaf using artificial intelligence. This French songstress, also known as the "Sparrow of Paris," is considered one of France's most important pop singers.
According to Variety, Warner Music Group is partnering with Edith Piaf's legacy to produce a 90-minute movie that will explore Piaf's life in Paris and New York between the 1920s and 1963. Artificial intelligence will be used to restore Piaf's voice and dub the movie, which promises to "reveal aspects of her life previously unknown to the general public." An official statement from Warner Music Group about the movie "Edith" reads, "The animation will provide a modern interpretation of her story, while the inclusion of archival footage, concert performances on stage and in TV shows, personal videos and TV interviews will allow viewers to explore important moments in Piaf's life. "
Warner Music says artificial intelligence technology has accessed hundreds of sound and video recordings featuring Edith Piaf, which will bring her "unique voice and image to life to enhance the authenticity and emotional impact of her story." In addition, Piaf's original recordings will be used in the movie.
The screenplay for the movie "Edith" is being developed by Julie Weill and Gilles Marliac with Warner Music Entertainment president Charlie Cohen and the help of artificial intelligence. While the use of artificial intelligence to create similar projects involving deceased celebrities is controversial, in the case of the movie "Edith," it seems that the singer's heirs have given their consent. Warner Music has unveiled a "proof of concept" in the form of the above image.
"It has been a great privilege to work alongside Edith's heirs to bring her story into the 21st century," Weill said in a statement. "In creating the movie, we kept asking ourselves, 'If Edith were with us, what messages would she want to pass on to the younger generation?' Her story is one of incredible resilience, overcoming adversity and defying social norms to achieve greatness - and it's as relevant today as it ever was.

The executors of Edith Piaf's will, Catherine Glavas and Christie Laum, said, "It was a special and moving experience to hear Edith's voice again - the technology made us feel like we were in the same room with her again. The animation is beautiful and through this film we will be able to show the real side of Edith - her joyful nature, her humor and her unwavering spirit. "
Head of Warner Music France Alain Weill added: "Edith is one of France's greatest female artists and she still makes the French proud. Combining the latest technology with the work of famous artists always requires a special balance, and it was important for us to work closely with Edith's heirs and conduct this project with the highest respect.
